About the Artist
Sandy Hill
Welcome
One thing can be said about my paintings…they are never boring. I use bold colors, working with both palette knife, brush, and even my fingers as paint just seems to leap on the canvas with passion. I use color to show emotion and movement…creating focal points that tease the eye to go where I choose. The subjects are varied…oceans, forests, lagoons, nudes, ships, dancers, musicians and animals.
Originally from southern Connecticut, I have lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 40 years. I am a breast cancer survivor. My ‘little people’ at home are six rescue animals. Painting started out as a hobby and opened doors and people's hearts along the way.
Over the years, I have twice served on the Board of Directors of the Broward Art Guild, volunteered with United Way to create murals for schools, and helped with various art projects in our area towns. Through donations of my artwork, I have raised considerable money for breast cancer, autism, the humane society, and the mentally handicapped.
Those of us who can paint and bring happiness and beauty into the world are truly blessed. And I am a true believer that there is some art buried in everyone. It just needs to be released.
